Mass shooting thoughts

So I was just thinking
About this latest mass shooting
And how the media has already
Interviewed the neighbours
Got them to say
"He was weird
A loner
Kept himself to himself"
That sort of thing
And then I was thinking about
People on the opposite side of a tragedy
How their neighbours and familes describe them
In always glowing terms
And then: the logical extension of that
How people would describe me if
a) I ever did something awful (I won't)
Which for sure would be:
"He was weird
He kept his own company
He never quite fit in"
Or
b) If I was ever the victim of a media-worthy tragedy
"He was a kind, gentle man
Softly spoken
Very helpful
And liked the peaceful life"
Something like that
Which has got to get you thinking
If you've one o' them there
Brains in your head
